Abstract. Salvia microphylla is a known species due to its broad uses in traditional medicine against memory loss and rheumatism. The knowledge regarding the chemical composition biological activities of collected Algeria, no studies have been reported literature. Therefore, present work focuses on characterization essential oils (EOs) determination antioxidant, anticholinesterase, ?-glucosidase, antimicrobial microphylla. EOs were obtained by hydrodistillation from aerial parts, leaves stems submitted analysis GC GC/MS. ?-Caryophyllene was identified as main constituent parts with 16.75 ± 0.02 % 17.86 0.07 %, respectively. Likewise, ?-Eudesmol predominant component oil (21.47 0.20 %). antioxidant activity estimated through using four comparative methods: DPPH, ABTS•+, Reducing power CUPRAC assays. Stems most active one assay, an IC50 value 7.72 0.43 µg/mL. enzyme inhibitory realized key enzymes involved type 2 diabetes (?-glucosidase) 4-Nitrophenyl-?-d-glucopyranoside substrate neurodegenerative (AChE BChE) diseases. highest anticholinesterase acetylcholinesterase observed EO (IC50: 23.65 0.73 µg/mL). isolated 37.07 1.44 µg/mL) exhibited butyrylcholinesterase very close that analytical standard galantamine 34.75 1.99 Furthermore, all displayed high better acarbose. display potential properties diabetes. A broth microdilution method used evaluate EOs, eleven microbial strains two yeast. showed antibacterial Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria except for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, being more efficient. Moreover, significant antifungal Candida albicans.

GC-MS analysis of essential oils from Salvia officinalis L.: comparison of extraction methods of the volatile components.

In this paper, comparison of the volatile components composition in the samples obtained by hydrodistillation and solid-phase microextraction of Salvia officinalis was described. Different sample preparation techniques showed considerable differences in volatiles composition, especially with respect to sesqui- and diterpenoids. The comparison of the sage essential oil obtained by hydrodistillat...

Essential oils from Piper cernuum and Piper regnellii: antimicrobial activities and analysis by GC/MS and 13C-NMR.

The essential oils of Piper cernuum and Piper regnellii leaves were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and the results were compared to that obtained by means of a program designed to analyse (13)C-NMR data of complex mixtures. Bicyclogermacrene (21.88 %)/beta-caryophyllene (20.69 %) and myrcene (52.60 %)/linalool (15.89 %) were the major constituents in essential oil from...

Aromatic profiles of Thymus hyemalis and Spanish T. vulgaris essential oils by GC–MS/GC–O

Thymus hyemalis L. and Spanish T. vulgaris subsp. vulgaris shrubs are characterized by a great chemical intraspecific variability among plants. This fact makes it difficult to detect real changes occurring in their essential oil composition during the vegetative cycle. Because of this, clones of T. hyemalis and T. vulgaris were used to monitor seasonal variations in their aromatic composition o...
